Weston Otmoor

Parkridge's initial consultation on Weston Otmoor has finished and the proposals have now been submitted to the Department for Communities and Local Government as part of the eco-towns process.

Parkridge, the developer behind the proposals, is making its more recent submission document (the Final Bid Presentation) publicly available to ensure the local community is fully aware of how the proposals have been developed and refined since the community roadshows took place.

Over the past few months, Parkridge has been working with local organisations and stakeholders to respond to some of the issues that were raised about the early proposals for Weston Otmoor. As a result of detailed discussions with the Environment Agency, Natural England and the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust, the proposals have been refined to afford further protection to the Site of Special Scientific Interest at the southern end of the site.

Parkridge is undertaking considerable work to understand and assess any impact the eco-town proposals could have on Bicester. This has included meeting with local groups and organisations to fully understand concerns that have been raised about the relationship between Weston Otmoor and Bicester, and putting in place measures to support Bicester in the long term.

Since the roadshows took place some key elements of the proposals have been further developed and are now available for the public to view. This new submission contains further information about how Parkridge will ensure the development as a whole achieves the highest levels of environmental sustainability and how the settlement as a whole will be zero carbon. This includes looking at wind and other energy solutions, low carbon construction, education, encouraging a change in modes of transport among residents, the efficient use and recycling of water and the development and delivery of a sound waste strategy.
